Attorney John Conte, as well as Catholic church.
Chesnis v Law et al
Docket: WOCV2005-00002
Wednesday, December 29, 2004
Six new clergy abuse suits are filed in Worcester
superior court December 28, 2004.
Attorney Carmen L. Durso, of Boston who has been one of the decisive
driving forces responsible for standing up to the dioceses of Worcester in a
brazen action files six new clergy abuse suits involving the Worcester
dioceses. The cases filed included Rev. Henery Banach, Rev. John J.
Bagley, Rev. Bernard Reilley, Msg. Michael L. Carney, Rev. Raymond P. Messier, and
Rev Leo O'Neil.
Faced with unthinkable, and morally corrupt actions from the
Worcester Dioceses as of recent to included attempting to dismiss civil
cases, insulting settlement offers, and attempts to claim charity immunity.
Attorney Durso has filed these clergy abuse cases in spite of these latest
tactics attempted by Traveler Insurance Attorney,
Joanne Goulka and
Attorney Gavin Reardon of Reardon &
Reardon, diocesan legal council.
Currently the clergy abuse plaintiffs still await the ruling
of specially appointed Superior Court Judge, Jeffrey Locke, as to the status
of some cases and the request to dismiss presented by defendants council. Judge Locke, since his
appointment has had little notable effect on the out come of the civil
cases. His presence has been viewed by some as an asset to the
dioceses as the dioceses has been successful with presenting the
lowest settlement amounts in the nation. Judicially on record, none of
judge Locks rulings have been socially relative like the courageous action
of Boston Superior Court Justice, Constance Sweeney who's ruling publicly
released the records of all clergy with allegations of sexual abuse in the Boston
Archdiocese.
In Worcester, numerous attempts have been made to gain
access to all clergy records with allegations of sexual abuse in the
Worcester dioceses yet none have been successful.
