Report on Geoghan slaying won't name names

Geoghan report expected to be ready next month

A much-awaited official report on the prison slaying of defrocked priest and convicted child molester John J. Geoghan will likely be ready sometime in January, a state official said yesterday.

But the entire report will probably not be released to the public. Certain parts will likely be withheld because of legal issues, said Christine M. Cole, deputy chief of staff to Edward A. Flynn, secretary of the state Department of Public Safety.

Lunenburg woman urges support for priest accused of embezzlement

I have been greatly disappointed and saddened lately as I have read the unfolding story of the Rev. Donald Ouellette, the former Fitchburg pastor accused of embezzling from Immaculate Conception Church -- especially the Dec. 22 news story by Matt O'Brien.

While I do not know Father Ouellette personally..........

Inmate, priest in prison romance?

BRIDGEWATER -- Convicted sex offender William Lamontagne says he had a romantic relationship with a Fitchburg priest who allegedly funneled stolen money to him.

"He came before everybody in my life," Lamontagne told the Sentinel & Enterprise during an interview inside the Massachusetts Treatment Center for the Sexually Dangerous. "I told my family if they were going to accept me, they'd have to accept him, too. And then he did this."

Bishop Reilly ready to retire to rectory

WORCESTER- While no announcement of a new bishop appears imminent, Bishop Daniel P. Reilly is preparing to move into St. Paul's Rectory, 38 High St.

Raymond L. Delisle, spokesman for the Diocese of Worcester, said this week that workers are painting and preparing a room for the bishop. The rectory is directly across the street from the cathedral.

State bar to honor prosecutor, city firm

The Prosecutor Award that is being presented to Ms. Sawaicki honors state or federal prosecutors who have distinguished themselves in public service and whose commitment to justice and serving the community is particularly praiseworthy, according to the association.

Ms. Sawicki, of Worcester, has been chief of District Attorney John J. Conte's Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit for more than 10 years.

Were was the prosecution in the Warren Foster care case were for ten years DSS looked the other was while children were being raped?  Where are all the clergy abuse prosecutions? Ms Sawicki is one of the main reason why abuse by so called connected friends to  DA Conte is allowed to happen every day. Ms Sawicki only prosecutes those who are common citizens, poor or mentally challenged because her office lacks the integrity to stop the real abuse of children in Worcester County.

Ms Lisa Cotter "child interview specialist"  used her position in Ms Sawicki's Worcester DA's office to falsify information for criminal child abuse charges. When  Ms Cotter was exposed, on November 6, 2003,  DA Conte had no choice but to dismiss the charges. DA Conte to this date has yet to seek prosecution against Ms Cotter for her actions.  Thus giving implied permission for all Worcester DA employees to provided false information without fear of retribution.

Why is it that Worcester DA Conte who publicly STATES he is disgusted by clergy abuse, has never once had Bishop Daniel Reilly, Msgr Edmond Tinsley, or Msgr Thomas Sullivan ever brought before a grand jury to tell the truth?

O'Connor named police official of year (this police officer has been accused of lying by three different Judges and DA Conte supports O'Connor's efforts)

Sergeant came under fire from judges Union names O'Connor police official of year

Recently, Judge Peter W. Agnes Jr. suppressed evidence in a drug case, saying he did not believe the testimony of Sgt. O'Connor and another member of the vice squad. Judge Agnes is a former assistant district attorney.

Previously, Judge Ralph D. Gants ruled that Sgt. O'Connor testified falsely in two other cases. Sgt. O'Connor has said he testified truthfully

Voice note: It appears when you get caught lying in court as a police officer DA Conte, stands behind you. This officer has been found guilty of lying on several different occasions. Why has the DA not had him arrested? Perhaps because that is the way the DA has been operating for years!

What has taken so long for the DA Conte to Prosecute Bishop Reilly for child endangerment?

For ten (10) months now we have been awaiting action by Worcester District Attorney John J. Conte to prosecute Bishop Daniel Reilly.  It has become blatantly obvious that no matter how much police investigation is conducted, the failure to prosecute has been directed solely by District Attorney John Conte.

In addition DA Conte has been in violation of Massachusetts Statue for misuse of the Grand Jury which is directed to gain information for the people.  Not for the District Attorney's own personal use to protect the release of truthful information about actions conducted in the Worcester Dioceses.

Do you know that DA Conte has known that the Diocese of Worcester has been paying child support for one of the priest that has been removed in the dioceses?

That else has DA Conte allowed to remain hidden from the people in Worcester?

Rights for assault victims urged
Police investigations can undermine privacy, lawyer says

By Kathleen A. Shaw

WORCESTER- Victims of rape and sexual assaults need to be warned against giving too much personal information to police investigators and others during investigations of the crime, according to Boston lawyer Wendy Murphy.

Such information, if entered into official reports, can later be used against victims, she said.

Ms. Murphy, a lawyer who specializes in representing women and children, was one of several speakers yesterday at a daylong program on "Emerging Issues in Sexual Violence."

Voice Note: This is Ms Murphy's presentation of rights provided on the back of her business card. Ms Murphy spoke at a VOTF meeting May 15, 2003

Child rapist ordered to treatment center

Mr. LaMontagne was sentenced to 12 to 15 years in state prison in 1989 after being convicted of raping and indecently assaulting a 3-year-old girl, crimes he maintains he did not commit. He recently told law enforcement authorities that he received some of the $250,000 the Rev. Donald C. Ouellette is accused of stealing from Immaculate Conception Church in Fitchburg, where he served as pastor.

Mr. LaMontagne said Rev. Ouellette gave him the money while Mr. LaMontagne was an inmate at Concord State Prison. Rev. Ouellette's lawyer, Michael P. McEvilly, has said the priest visited Mr. LaMontagne as part of a prison ministry. Prosecutors have not said how much money Mr. LaMontagne alleges he received from the priest.

Lawyers told to watch tone

Ryan represents accused priest

WORCESTER- Superior Court Judge John P. Connor Wednesday told all counsel involved in a contentious civil lawsuit involving allegations of sexual abuse by a priest to speak in a normal tone during depositions in the case.

Judge Connor initially directed his remarks at lawyer Edward P. Ryan, who represents the accused priest, then expanded them to include all lawyers in the case.

In September, Judge Leila R. Kern denied Houston lawyer Daniel J. Shea's request that Mr. Ryan be prohibited from taking part in depositions in the case.

Conte charged with 'strong arm tactics'

WORCESTER- Houston lawyer Daniel J. Shea yesterday officially removed himself from the case of his former client Sime Braio, whose lawsuit charging Auxiliary Bishop George E. Rueger for rape was dismissed last month.

In a letter to Mr. Conte dated Nov. 21, Mr. Shea accused Mr. Conte of orchestrating a state police effort to use "strong arm tactics" against two other clients of his who have charged priests of the Catholic Diocese of Worcester with sexual abuse. He said state police have made unannounced and intimidating visits to those clients.

This statement was to be part of an interview with Colleen Bramford, Worcester News TV, on Wednesday December 3, 2003.  Due to a scheduling conflict the interview was canceled by Ms Bramford a few hours before it was to occur. Additionally, Trooper Greene had also agreed to speak with Ms Branford for this interview.

Statement released by Sime Braio for clarification of issues.

My written statement provided to Judge Tina Page on Wednesday November 19, 2003 has been taken out of context by my former Attorney Daniel J. Shea. I am disappointed by the recent legal action initiated by Mr. Shea in his letter Dated November 21, 2003 to District Attorney John Conte.

Mr. Shea’s illustration of the current State Police tactics can be nothing further from the truth in my case. I am very pleased that the State Police are currently still investigating my allegations against Auxiliary Bishop George E. Rueger and the case remains open. This case after all has always been about justice and not money to me.

I called Trooper Tom Greene as a clergy abuse victim. In my written statement in which I made comment of Trooper Greene’s name, my only intention was to note that Trooper Greene stated I could tell the Judge of the on going investigation.

It was never my intention for this hand written note to be used as a weapon to discredit Trooper Greene. My attempt has been to try and discharge Attorney Daniel J Shea and find suitable legal representation.

I would like to thank all those who have supported me.
