Diocese still supports priests on leave for allegations

WORCESTER-The Diocese of Worcester continues to support a number of priests placed on leave because of sexual misconduct allegations, including the Rev. Thomas A. Kane, director of the former House of Affirmation, who was fired amid fiscal irregularities at the Whitinsville facility.
Bishop Daniel P. Reilly, former head of the Worcester Diocese, said in a deposition and under questioning from lawyer Tahira Khan Merritt of Dallas that the money comes from the priest assistance fund......................The diocesan records for fiscal 2003 show more than $270,000 in the priest assistance fund. Bishop Reilly said this money does not go to retired priests, who are in a separate fund. .......................

Bishop Reilly revealed that the Rev. Peter J. Inzerillo, who was placed into St. Leo’s Parish, Leominster, after a suit had been settled naming him and the Rev. Brendan O’Donoghue as perpetrators of sexual misconduct, was not removed from the parish in 2002 because of any pressure from the parish. He said he was removed because another separate allegation not connected with the settled lawsuit came to his attention.

VOICE NOTE: COLONEL THOMAS ROBBINS, head of the Massachusetts State police will be contacted to seek the immediate investigation of child endangerment, which would be prosecutable under the 1993 Mass. General Laws chapter 265, section 13L, Reckless Endangerment to Children. against Bishop Daniel Reilly for the incidents that occurred at St Leo parish 2001.  Captain Thomas Greene, C-Pac director has who is attached to DA Conte had failed to conduct such an investigation due to what we believe is protection towards the Worcester Dioceses Catholic Church as directed by Worcester DA John Conte.

Rev. James D Campbell, to report to Superior Court for another scheduled hearing.

Posting on the Massachusetts trial court computer system in criminal case number WOCR2003-01575 in Worcester superior court pending against Rev. James D Campbell who has pleaded not guilty to 1 count Unnatural Rape, 1 count Unnatural and Lascivious Acts, 2 counts Assault and Battery, and 2 counts Furnishing Alcohol to a minor will again today, have another court appearance.  Rev Campbell  was first indicted October 9, 2003.

This case has been slow moving in Superior court with dates being rescheduled and conference to continue further motions and actions.

10/12/2004   09:00   Conference: Pre-Trial   1   Event held as scheduled
10/22/2004   09:00   Conference: Pre-Trial   1   Event held as scheduled
11/01/2004   09:00   TRIAL: by jury   1   Event rescheduled by court prior to date
11/01/2004   09:00   Conference: Status Review   1   Event held as scheduled
11/15/2004   09:00   Status: Motion review/assignment   1

The last four cases against accused clergy, that have been investigated by the Auburn C-Pac Unit of the state police have failed to gain a criminal conviction.

In the opinion of some legal scholars, Bishop Daniel Reilly who reassigned Rev Peter Inzerillo late December 2000 following the payment in a sexual abuse civil suit to which Rev Inzerillo was a named defendant for $300,000 dollars, and then Bishop Reilly's lack of action while numerous events regarding inappropriate sexual behavior had been reported regarding Rev Inzerillo's short stay at St Leo parish clearly makes the actions of Bishop Daniel Reilly appear prosecutable under the 1993 Mass. General Laws chapter 265, section 13L, Reckless Endangerment to Children.

Presently, Worcester District Attorney John Conte continues to refuse to investigate the hierarchy of the Worcester Catholic church for criminal wrong doing.  No Bishop or Priest from the Worcester Dioceses has ever been questioned by the Auburn C-Pac State police unit since the crisis broke in 2002.

Please email Worcester DA John Conte spokesperson, Liz Stammo, and ask what type of investigation is this?

Catholic Church ‘evil,’ priest says

Voice of the Faithful meets in city

WORCESTER— The Rev. James J. Scahill, a parish priest in East Longmeadow, yesterday said the Roman Catholic Church is “not the church of Jesus Christ” and has become “insidiously evil.”
He put the blame on the hierarchy of the church, which he said is “interested in power, its own power,” and said nothing will change until Catholic laypeople withhold their offerings.

“At least the Mafia is out front,” he said. “The church is insidious.”

Pastor says bishops should be jailed for 'silence' on abuse

WORCESTER -- In a blistering attack against church leaders, the lead honoree at a Worcester summit of New England Catholics angry about the church's handling of the clergy-sexual abuse crisis said yesterday that several US bishops should be jailed for failing to respond adequately to allegations of abuse by priests.

Worcester dioceses self absolves themselves of sins again, ministerial code fails first attempt.

The new ministerial code of conduct has failed the first test without even a try. New Bishop Robert McManus who pledged upon his installation to help heal the wounds inflicted by the clergy sexual abuse scandal in Worcester blatantly refuses proper and Christian accountably under his reign.

When Ms Patricia Engdahl of the Worcester office of healing was contacted to file a complaint October 12, 2004, based on very serious misconduct conducted by Bishop Daniel Reilly, Pastor Father Gerald Doran and the St. Leo administration.  Ms Engdahl failed to take the complaint as she stated she had no knowledge of the actions or who conducted enforcement of this code.

Ms Engdahl in phone conversation stated she would have to speak Bishop Robert McManus as to who would conduct the investigations concerning the allegations.  Ms Engdahl seemed unaware of the history of Fr Peter Inzerillo, who has had one sexual abuse suit paid off for $300,000 previously and another sexual abuse filed in 2004, which is currently pending, alleging the sexual assault occurred in the building of St Leo Parish.
