This should be a clear violation of his conditions of release, however, Worcester District Attorney, Joseph Early has not initiated the appropriate legal actions to have John Szantyr brought into court to answer for these actions.  

Worcester Assistant District Attorney Joseph Reilly III has been the principal reason John Szantyr’s charade of being incompetent to stand trial has continued over four years.

December 16, 2004 a preliminary psychological examination was conducted of Fr. John Szantyr by a court-designated forensic psychologist at the request of Assistant District Attorney Joseph J. Reilly III, according to court records.

February 17, 2005, Defense Attorney Edward Ryan presented to the court the medical evaluation of Fr. Szantyr in reference to his competency, however, portions of the medical evaluation had been redacted to preserved confidentiality. Judge Sarkis Teshoian acknowledged that the redaction made the evaluation rather difficult for the court to comprehend.

Worcester ADA Joseph J. Reilly III, told Judge Teshoian he had not had the opportunity to read the document completely and was not prepared. Thus another continuance was incurred.

ADA Joseph J. Reilly III, stated on August 20, 2007, the reason the 2004 examination was redacted was former Worcester ADA Harry Quick who had joined Defense Attorney Edward Ryan in private practice failed to inform John Szantyr of his legal rights prior to the evaluation.

It than would take ADA Joseph J. Reilly III more than two years to have another evaluation conducted. ADA Joseph J. Reilly III choose a neurologist, John M. Murphy of Connecticut to conduct the psychological evaluation which was based on two appointments.

On September 12, 2006 under only the cross - examination by Worcester ADA Joseph J. Reilly III, of Dr Murphy, John J. Szantyr was at that time ruled not competent to stand trial by Judge Dennis J. Brennan.

ADA Joseph J. Reilly III was contacted within one hour of the September 12th competency hearing by Michael Hodgkins who also alleges sexual abuse by John Szantyr of the photos from the rest area in Sturbridge. ADA Joseph J. Reilly III did not respond.

Two residents of Connecticut also attempted to provide ADA Joseph J. Reilly III with information concerning the fact Fr John Szantyr was able to walk, feed himself and carried on a normal conversation in November 2006 concerning a prayer group in Wolcott Ct. ADA Joseph J. Reilly III never called them back.

As of this date it appears Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr., has only disseminated propaganda similar to his predecessor John J. Conte as his promises have not materialized.  

District Attorney Early’s misinformation has further placed additional anguish and stress into the lives of all those who allege sexual abuse by John Szantyr.
